The roadtrip to Scotland began in earnest on August first. Our first stop was the border itself, where we strolled onto a boardwalk made over a soggy peatland, with grand vistas South into the borderlands.

One side

And the other – Welcome to Scotland!

High elevation grassland, with a pine plantation on the Scottish side.
Next a visit to the medieval town of Jedburgh
:

Complete with Jed River and Jedforest.

Roofless cathedral, Still an impressive edifice rising from the banks of the Jed river.
We saved our appetite for our next stop: Queensferry, a town on the Firth of Forth near Edinburgh.

Bridges at Queensferry

more bridge views. A Scenic Spot!

We moved on from Queensferry and drove further into Scotland to the city of Perth.

Downtown Perth where we had a sunset walk near the museum and ancient church.

From Perth we made our way further North, toward the Isle of Skye. Stay tuned.
